Hunger Games Field Trip:  April 13

Coral Parents,

Last week, your child brought home a permission slip to attend a private screening of “The Hunger Games” (PG-13) on Friday, April 13 at Solomon Pond Mall.  The cost of this field trip is $12.00, which includes busing.  Please make sure your child has turned in his or her payment and permission slip by THIS FRIDAY, March 30.  We recognize that the $12 fee may be difficult for some families to pay.  If you are interested in and able to pay for a student who cannot currently afford the $12 fee, please contact Ms. Korhn (mkorhn@hudson.k12.ma.us).

A few notes about this trip:

  • This trip interferes with our regularly scheduled lunch time.  Therefore, students are required to pack a lunch or purchase a packed lunch prepared by the cafeteria.  We will eat upon our return to JFK.
  •
  • The snack bar at the theater will be open before the screening.  Students may purchase snacks at that point, but not during the showing.  We prefer students to simply eat a solid breakfast.
  •
  •  If you prefer your child not attend this field trip, simply contact Ms. Korhn.  Other arrangements for your child’s time can easily be made.  Students who do not turn in required permission slips will not be allowed to attend.
  •
  •  Friday, April 13 is the day before Hudson’s April vacation.  We should return to JFK by noon on this day.  If you have travel plans that conflict with this schedule, please contact Ms. Korhn so alternative arrangements can be made for your child.

Thank you for your cooperation! The Coral Team

Museum of Fine Arts Field Trip

On Tuesday, December 13 the Coral Team will travel to the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.   On this trip, students will participate in a guided “MFA’s Greatest Hits” tour, exploring a variety of art from five major collection areas.

The cost of this field trip is $11.  Permission slips and payment are due by December 5.  We recognize that the $11 fee may be difficult for some families to pay.  We are committed to taking all children on this trip, regardless of ability to pay.  If you are interested in and able to pay for a student who cannot currently afford the $11 fee, please let me know.

Busses will depart from JFK at 8:30 am and return by 2:00 pm.  Students are required to pack a lunch or purchase a packed lunch through the JFK cafeteria.  An electronic copy of the permission slip and lunch order form are attached.  Additionally, your child will be coming home with a paper copy of the forms today.  For more information about the Museum of Fine Arts, visit http://www.mfa.org/

First Day of 7th Grade MadLib

Created by the Coral Team

On August 31, my mother woke me up at 3:01 am and said, “Wake up and smell the Teletubbies sleepy head!  Today is your first day of school and you can’t be late!”  I groaned in my bed for 333 seconds, but eventually got out of bed and dressed.  I wore a blue-and-white striped long sleeve computer, a red tie, dark gray pants, black shoes, and a supercalifragulisticexpealidocious hat.  Then, I made lunch and ate my breakfast.  999 Billion hours later, the bus came to take me to Spencer’s Right away, I met two really turtlicious classmates and we became fast friends.  My new friends, named Ronald McDonald and Buster Brown were both in my LA class.  In that class, we learned what toilets were and how to use them.  When the day was over, I grabbed all my belongings and packed them in my bathtub. As the bus pulled up to take us home, I turned to my new friends and yelled, “Konichiwa!”  See you tomorrow!”  It was an extremely geeky first day of seventh grade.
